KNP Promotions' volunteer programme currently focuses on the restoration of the Sable Antelope, Silver King and Kamiyobo Mines as well as the Chanyungwe Caves. These sites are located close to each other, making them potentially very attractive to tourists. All of these sites need to be cleared, fenced and signposted. The mines, especially, need to be secured due to unmarked drives and shafts, some of them more than 30 metres deep. Additionally, the access roads, currently not more than tracks, need to be signposted and properly established. At the mines, equipment and plant must be collected from the bush, rehabilitated and displayed. In general, very little is known about all the sites, hence they are in need of methodical explorations and classifications, in particular the caves, only re-discovered in September 2004, need to be archaeologically excavated.

In short, the range of tasks is immense, and as a volunteer, you can expect to participate in all of them, as well as educational, training and marketing activities. Our local field staff, in cooperation with scientists, will teach you everything you need to know on site. Our volunteer programme is not a holiday. You will live, work and eat as our field staff, but we do try to provide the most comfortable facilities available, while trying to keep participation within the economic reach of the largest number of people. You will work hard - but with a purpose, touching the lives of people around you.
