Introduction - The Impact - Field Work - Leisure Time - How to Volunteer & Costs

Our volunteer programme has been set up to assist in the restoration of several heritage sites situated close to the town of Mumbwa, a gateway to the Kafue National Park, one of Africa's largest parks. Tourists and other visitors can here experience - hands-on - the history of Zambia dating back to prehistoric man. Accordingly, theses sites are of immense importance to the national identity in Zambia.

Before the sites can be made accessible to visitors, however, they need to be restored to former glory. Most of them have only recently been re-discovered; hence have been left to decay. As a volunteer, you will assist in the restoration of these pristine sites, working together with the local communities, which will give you a unique opportunity to experience first-hand the Zambian life - and vice-versa.

The income from future tourism activities in the area will be channelled back into the communities through community-managed projects and trusts - all to ensure a true development impact.
